What is Tabuvan?



    Tabuvan 160 mg reduces blood pressure and protects against complications of high blood pressure.


    It contains the active ingredient valsartan 160mg.


How does valsartan work?


    Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II in the body causing blood vessels to constrict.

    As a result, valsartan relaxes and widens blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure.



What are the medical uses for Tapovan 160mg Tablet?


    Valsartan is a prescription drug used to:


    To lower high blood pressure, valsartan can be used alone or in combination with blood pressure medications.

    For the treatment of heart failure, valsartan helps reduce the need for hospitalization associated with heart failure and reduces the effect and worsening of the disease on the shape of the heart muscle.

    Valsartan is not used to treat high blood pressure in children younger than 1 year old.

    Valsartan is also used to treat or prevent kidney disease caused by high blood sugar (diabetic kidney disease).



How should Tabuvan 160mg Tablet be used?


    Take the tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

    To treat high blood pressure, take the tablet once each day.

    For adults with heart disease, take the tablet twice each day.

    Your doctor will likely start you on a low dose of valsartan and may increase your dose during treatment.

    The tablets can be taken with or without food

    Dosages can be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.

    If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose

    Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a forgotten dose.

    Especially tell your doctor if you are taking:


    other medicines for high blood pressure or a heart problem


    Medicines that contain potassium, potassium supplements, or potassium-containing salt substitutes. Your doctor may check the amount of potassium in your blood regularly.




How do I store Tapovan 40 mg Tablets?


    Store at a temperature below 25°C

    Do not cool the medicine in the refrigerator

    Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiration date refers to the last day of the month.



What are the normal numbers for your health?


    The normal level of blood pressure is less than 120/80 mmHg

    High blood pressure: when the systolic pressure reading is 120-129 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is less than 80 mmHg

    Level 1 hypertensive patient: when the systolic pressure reading is 130-139 mmHg or the diastolic pressure is 80-89 mmHg

    Level 2 pressure patient: when the pressure reading is equal to 140/90 mm Hg or more

    Hypertensive crisis, which is a serious condition that requires immediate hospitalization if the blood pressure is 120/180 mm Hg or more.
