Mechanism Of Action Of Dapagliflozin
Inhibits sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, leading to increased urinary glucose excretion and decreased blood glucose levels.
Therapeutic Indications Of Dapxiga
Type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control.
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) to slow progression and reduce the risk of cardiovascular death or hospitalization.
Method Of Administration Of Dapxiga
Take one 10 mg tablet orally once daily, with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Take at the same time each day for consistent blood levels.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Dapxiga
May cause:
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Increased urination
Genital infections (e.g., yeast infections)
Thirst
Low blood pressure (hypotension)
Dizziness
Back pain
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precaution While Taking Dapxiga
Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters.
Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment with dapagliflozin.
